Meeting in Plasencia to promote the bioeconomy in the region

Local entities from the forestry, livestock, and beekeeping sectors meet to explore the key aspects of national aid from the Biodiversity Foundation for the promotion of the bioeconomy.

On February 12, the Mosaico Project participated in a strategic meeting in Plasencia alongside various local entities and the University of Extremadura to analyze the latest call for grants from the Biodiversity Foundation (MITECO).

The main objective of this meeting was to explore ways of collaborating to present solid projects that promote the bioeconomy in the region, taking advantage of funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

During the day, we shared a table with representatives from the University of Extremadura (RESIST and MOSAICO projects), associations of forest owners, beekeepers, and local foundations. In addition to analyzing the details of the call for proposals, the key point of the meeting was the proposal to form a group of entities. This alliance would allow us to:

  • Strengthen the proposals by making them more attractive and competitive in order to qualify for the maximum grant amount.
  • Define three priority areas: collective forest property management, the goat-livestock sector, and regenerative agriculture.
  • The possibility of labeling products derived from these activities with the “MOSAICO” brand, reinforcing the value of our territory.

This call for proposals represents a key opportunity to strengthen the impact of our local initiatives in northern Extremadura. Following this initial analysis of the terms and conditions, the next step will be a second working meeting to assess the technical feasibility of a joint proposal and define how each entity would fit into this bioeconomy framework.
