The MOSAICO Project meets with associations from the Sierra de Gata to explore new initiatives in the region
The meeting, held in the municipality of Hernán-Pérez, seeks to channel technical support from the University towards local projects that contribute to fire prevention and rural economic recovery.
On 3 March, the Hernán-Pérez Training Classroom hosted a strategic meeting between various associations in the area and representatives of the University of Extremadura in order to identify actions with a direct positive impact on the mountain municipalities. Under the framework of RESIST, a key tool of the MOSAICO Project, the main objective of this meeting was to establish a direct channel of communication between the local initiative and the university in order to gather ideas that contribute to fire prevention.
During the meeting, initiatives were analysed that are both in the idea phase and at an advanced stage of development, and the key points agreed upon for the short term are:
– Specification of projects and financing: the University will offer technical support to transform these ideas into viable projects and will facilitate the search for financing channels for their implementation.
– Integration into RESIST: some of the associations will begin to work on defining their proposals so that they fit within the operational framework of the RESIST tool.
– Visits to the territory: It is proposed to visit some of the projects presented in the field to assess their technical feasibility within this framework.
This meeting marks the beginning of a joint working process in which the University will offer technical advice to help local ideas become real projects. The ultimate goal is clear: to protect our environment from large fires and climate change, while reviving the rural economy with activities that serve as natural barriers to protect our landscape.
